A community service event at Cooper trailhead
The Vitals
Date: Saturday, April 23rdTime: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: Meet at the Cooper trailhead at 9 a.m. If you are late you can find us at the U-Mound bouldering area N.E of the trailhead.
What is going on?:
Part 1- A community service event to help restore and maintain the classic and much used U-Mound bouldering area in the A.M.
Part 2 - A low key "just for fun" bouldering competition to test your skills on the gritty and unforgiving rock (hence the title "Shredfest")
The Details
"U-Mound" bouldering is likely the most trafficked climbing area around Albuquerque. Due to high traffic this area needs more attention to keep it looking decent. Much of the trash and erosion is not from rock climbers but this is a perfect opportunity to show that climbers are a responsible and conscientious user group who cares about the environment in which we play. After we pay our dues in dirt and sweat, we can all hang out and boulder till' we bleed (or not, if thats not really your thing) and enjoy snacks and drinks afterwards. There will be a small awards ceremony and possibly some goodies to raffle away. This event is hosted by Sun Toucher Mountain Guides and Stone Age Climbing Gym
